Here is a timeline of Isaac Asimov's life:

  • 1919 - Born in Petrovichi, Klimovichi Uyezd, Russian SFSR.
  • 1928 - Became a naturalized American citizen.
  • 1941 - Astounding magazine published the 32nd story Asimov wrote, "Nightfall".
  • 1942 - Published the first of his Foundation stories. Married Gertrude Blugerman.
  • 1956 - Published "The Last Question", where the computer Multivac famously responds "Insufficient data for meaningful answer...".
  • 1964 - His social science fiction novelette "Nightfall" was voted by the Science Fiction Writers of America "the best short science fiction story of all time".
  • 1992 - Died at the age of 72 in Brooklyn, New York City.

Humanity has the stars in its future, and that future is too important to be lost under the burden of juvenile folly and ignorant superstition.
